HE NEVER BELIEVED LOVE WAS IN THE CARDS FOR HIM.

As an elite bodyguard for his best friend, movie star Rob Deacon, 33-year-old Liam Neely lives a perfect bachelor life. Then, he meets Rob's assistant, Jenna, and despite his insistence that he doesn't do relationships, he falls in love with the computer genius, hard and fast. But between family baggage, trust issues, and a lack of experience making things work, he's fighting an uphill battle.

SHE KNEW HE WAS WRONG.

Brilliant, beautiful, and wealthy, 32-year-old Jenna Ackerman could live the life of a socialite as expected. Instead, she becomes a cybersecurity expert and lands—not by chance—a job as the woman behind the curtain for movie star Deac Roberts. Rob introduces her to Liam, and for the first time in her life, calm, cool, collected Jenna is turned upside down.

LOVE IS A COMPLICATED DANCE.

Can Jenna and Liam make the choreography work? Or will the past stand in their way?

I do not write bad reviews for a variety of reasons but this one I had to. The writing was painful - way too much background details that took forever to get to the present - I thought that maybe from the first one in the series that it was the author’s style but this book was over the top with the past.
I hated how much of a manwh*re Liam was and Jenna...what to say about her, ugh I couldn’t connect with her at all. She had no substance.

*************SPOILERS!*************

The reasons given for neither of them calling the other...BS - they don’t talk unless he’s in town. She pregnant and she doesn’t tell him?! He just assumes that after telling her he loves her that he shouldn’t call her?! Absolutely ridiculous. .
I absolutely HATED how the book ended. Rob and Jenna both supposedly having feelings for each other?! That stupid confession that they agreed to have - ridiculous. And then how Jenna treated Emily. And Rob, what the heck was up with Rob at the end and him crying over Jenna, after he and Emily had just gotten married?!?! WTH?! Seriously ridiculous! I don’t know that I can read another one, I bought the third when I bought the second but I’m just not sure I can struggle through another one if it’s written the same way.

*SPOILERS*

I fell in love with Rob and Emily in Back to December. Liam was a sweetheart who had his issues in that one so I was excited to read his story.

In this one we learn why Liam was the way he is. He still had issues, but I still loved him. He took a long time to grow up, but it was true to who he was. Jenna on the other hand ... I didn't appreciate how nasty she was to Emily at all. He whole attitude was ridiculous!

What I hated most though was that I no longer liked Rob. He was so devoted to Emily in book one and seemed so open and honest with her. Turns out he was keeping a big secret. Now, I get that people have past relationships, I might not like it, but I get it. He flat out lied about it though! *SPOILERS* he told Emily that he wasn't with anyone after Lola, conveniently forgetting his affair with Jenna. He talked about only ever loving Rachel and Lola forgetting how much he loved Jenna! The whole flirty thing he and Jenna had going on took on a whole new meaning once you knew how he pined after her for years and how 'passionate' their sex life was.

Then to make matters worse Rob told Jenna that had she told him the babies were his he would have never left her side. He just admitted that he would have broke Emily's heart and left her at the alter to be with Jenna. How am I to believe he truly loves Emily now??? Jenna sure was snotty about it and flat out told Emily that if she wanted Rob he would be with her instead of Emily.

Even after all of that he still put Jenna first and kept Emily at arms distance. He still wanted to call her the pet name 'Gorgeous' he still wanted to be flirty and kiss her. He still wanted Jenna to be the first one he told things to and keep her as is confidant. Uhhhh, what about his wife??? Surprisingly it was Jenna who told him it had to stop. She told him no more kisses or pet names and that he needed to put Emily first. He would have never done that. Even after all this time and after marrying Emily and having a baby with her he still seemed to be waiting in Jenna. I guess I should be happy that Jenna put a stop to it (not until almost the last chapter though.) but it was too little too late for me. She had been far to condescending to Emily with the whole 'get over it' attitude and speech about she could have Rob if she wanted him.

I know the story isn't really about Rob and Emily, but it completely changed my view on the characters. I now feel like everything about book one is tainted. Rob will never again be the sweet guy who fell in love with Emily at first sight. He will no longer be the hopelessly devoted guy. Now we know that if Jenna snapped her fingers Rob would drop Emily in a heartbeat. So sad. As much and Emily and Liam decided that they truly were the ones that Rob and Jenna loved I just never felt it.

I won't be reading anymore books in this series.
This book was depressing for me and too many triggers for this book to be a romance. Spoilers in review.

The two main characters have been together for a long time but are also with other people while they are together. They were not in an exclusive relationship. He was with a number of women who knew the deal and she was not with other men because she was so in love with him. I just didn't get the sense the hero really cared for the heroine as much as he should have.

They are not together towards middle of the book. He is with OW towards middle of the book and they are in a relationship and he constantly compares the OW to h. There are graphic sex scenes with the OW and he is with her for about a month and until he finds out the h is preggers with his baby. Even after he breaks up with the OW and he is back with h, he still thinks about the OW and compares them. I feel if he loved the h, he should not have need to compare the two. She should have been the only one. Period. The OW was part of their friend's marriage celebration from the middle to end of story so she was constantly around. Her presence really annoyed me.

Some of H's conversations and thoughts that really made me think the heroine wasn't the only one.

“I told her that I could have loved her if Jenna didn't come back.”

“Did you mean it?”

“Yeah, I did. I hadn't fallen in love with her yet, but I would've. It killed me to hurt her. She was my first truly adult relationship. I love Jenna with everything I have, but Nina will always have a special place in my heart.”

Nina would leave a hole in his life. Not as big as the one Jenna had left, but she'd opened him up in ways that his relationship with Jenna hadn't. Who knew how long it would take Jenna to fill that space? If she ever could.

I could not get into the characters or the story. I really disliked the hero. Not my cup of tea. Why is the story titled only one when it is obvious to me there appeared to be more than one?
